Karnataka defines SOPs for colleges resuming from November 17

The department of higher education has planned SOPs (standardized operating procedure) according to the UGC rules, considering the opening of degree, engineering, and diploma colleges in the state from November 17.

Deputy Minister Dr CN Ashwatha Narayana, who is additionally the minister of higher education informed on Monday that planning is in progress to enable the beginning of the off-line classes.

“The SOP has separate advisories set for the students of the final year and the classes will be conducted accordingly. Likewise, there are separate advisories set for the students of first and second-year students of the courses,” he said.

Postgraduate and last year students who wish to go to classes truly ought to get the consent letter of their parents in the recommended appropriately signed by them.

While leading the physical classes social distance should be kept up by considering the total number of students and the accessible total number of classrooms, according to the rules of the health department and the present advisories.

Teaching, practical and project classes ought to be directed on shift system, in the event that it is important. For those students who need to skip going to physical classes, an online facility will be there.

Contact classes should be directed each day to encourage students to explain any questions and resolve issues of such students with respect to topics, according to the SOP.

“The time table should be prepared at the college level itself so as to enable to maintain the social distance as per the guidelines of the health department and the present advisories based on the total number of students and the available number of classrooms while conducting the contact classes,” it said.
