Samsung may stop high-end Galaxy Note cell phones

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd may suspend its premium Galaxy Note phone one year from now, sources with information on the issue stated, a move that would reflect the sharp drop sought after for top of the line cell phones due to the Covid pandemic.

The Galaxy Note, known for its enormous screen and a stylus for note-taking, is one of two Samsung premium phone series — the other being the more smaller Galaxy S that attracts buyers with its state-of-the-art parts.

As of now, the South Korean tech goliath doesn’t have plans to build up another form of the Galaxy Note for 2021, three sources stated, declining to be distinguished as the plans were not public.

All things being equal, the Galaxy S series’ top model, the S21, will have a pointer and the following form of Samsung’s foldable phone will be viable with a pointer, which will be sold independently, one of the sources said.

A second source said organization improvement endeavors that regularly would have been coordinated to the Note would now be directed into its foldable phone range.

Tom Kang, an investigator at research firm Counterpoint, said sales of Samsung’s Note series are relied upon to fall by a fifth to 8 million this year while sales of the S series are probably going to drop by 5 million to under 30 million.

“Premium demand has decreased this year and many people are not looking for new products,” he said.

The Galaxy Note 20 was launched in the United States this year with a $999 sticker price, comparable to the Galaxy S20 while the iPhone 12 beginnings at $799.

Samsung first dispatched the Note in 2011, kicking off something new on the lookout for bigger screen models and assisting it with overwhelming Apple Inc to turn into the world’s biggest cell phone creator for the first time that year.
